I have worked with Karen Green for the past four years building school and teacher capacity to design and implement curriculum and sound teaching practice at both primary and secondary levels. The eUP model allows teachers to focus on what matters most and removes the distracters of seeking out curriculum documents and learning models. They are all included in her design and allow teachers to work collaboratively to build a backbone of units based on strong research and clearly linked to current DEECD directions and frameworks. Karen’s expertise and ability to assist schools in designing and implementing more robust curriculum has been greatly appreciated.

The eUP has totally transformed the methodology of our planning and subsequently the school’s pedagogy. It is much more than a planner; it is a process for effective planning. All teachers at Oak Park Primary School believe that eUP has had a dramatic and positive impact on their classroom practise.

Individuals at our school began to explore the benefits of eUP two years ago. During that time it has become much more user friendly and year level teams have gradually taken it up. We are now ready for a whole school push towards documenting all tasks and assessments, Levels 1 - 6. This process may take some time and considerable effort but the resulting documents will be a rich resource. I like using it with Skype, so I can sit at home and chat with my colleagues while making adjustments to the document we are working on.

We have found that the eUP has been an invaluable online tool in assisting our school to fully embrace the inquiry learning model. The resources provided within the eUP enable easy access to a plethora of graphic organisers and thinking tools which makes the process efficient and allows us to plan a broad range of activities. A huge benefit of the eUP is the fact that the units are accessible by every teacher online and can be saved in a long term resource bank. We have also found that the opportunity to access a consultant through eUP has maximised the capabilities of our staff in the planning process.

The staff at Livingstone Primary School has been using eUP since a curriculum day (March 2008) with Karen Green focusing on inquiry learning. This day was followed up with planning sessions in which Karen worked with each VELS level team in Term 1 of 2008. eUP is a most comprehensive tool for innovative and thorough curriculum planning with teams of teachers able to access the on-line planner concurrently. Based on an inquiry learning model, eUP successfully supports teachers in understanding and linking VELS standards to planned learning and provides excellent scaffolding in the use of Bloom’s Taxonomy, Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences, differentiated learning, Habits of Mind, a great variety of thinking tools as well as many excellent cooperative learning strategies. I can thoroughly recommend eUP as a very user friendly planner which has articulated links with PoLT and e5. A fabulous tool! I can’t recommend it highly enough.

I have been teaching for eight years and eUP is the first workable instructional model which provides fully detailed resources that I have found. I have used other templates before but this software surpasses what a mere template can provide. eUP provides access to the Victorian Educational Learning Standards (VELS), thinking tools and a knowledge bank of resources created by other teachers in our school. It encourages teachers to consider the Multiple Intelligences and Bloom’s Taxonomy levels when devising and organising learning tasks. Student teachers find it valuable because it models a framework for an excellent inquiry based unit and provides readymade resources. Teachers who plan units in teams but find it difficult to meet in person can build a unit together on the website. The capacity for eUP to audit units and provide data serves our school aims in mapping a whole school curriculum. As more units are adapted and created by teachers using eUP we are finding that the auditing function enables us to identify and address gaps and repetitions in curriculum delivery across the school.
